Possible meets.... Emma Reid of Pawfection Dog Grooming
Many businesses are borne out of a love for something very specific. Sometimes, it’s even a living person or thing that ignites the passion to make a go of starting your own career path. A pure and simple desire to be with someone special and that’s exactly what happened to this weeks guest while on the other side of the world. During the pandemic, whilst most of us were counting down the days to our next pamper session and cursing our overgrown hair and natural roots, there was a certain type of clientele that had no such problem. Indeed, a certain staff member here at Possible will testify to that. If he could talk, he would be the first to shout about how much he loves visiting this weeks guest and her brilliant little business she has built in Scone. If you're ever feeling a little low, which we all do sometimes, take a look at the social media pages for her business and scroll through the fantastic work that she does. We promise it will bring a smile to your face.
This week, Possible meets…………….. Emma Reid of Pawfection Dog Grooming
Can you tell us a bit about your business?
So basically I was away travelling to Australia and Bali for 9 months and really missed my dog Millie, and I was trying to think of ways I could spend every day with her when I came back. One of the ways would be if I was able to take her to work with me, so I came up with the idea of becoming a dog groomer. I looked into it while I was still travelling, saved money for the necessary courses and when I came home I booked the course. 3 years later the rest is history. Purely out of the love I have for Millie is the reason I have my own dog grooming business - Pawfection.
How has the last year, throughout the COVID-19 situation, been for you professionally and personally?
Professionally I’ve never been busier, I was shut for the first 7 weeks first lockdown and that was it, it drove me insane. Thankfully due to working out the back in a garden I was able to carry on safely and socially distant. Personally - it didn’t really bother me that much, in fact it’s allowed me to save the deposit needed for my mortgage, so it’s came at a perfect time for me!!
Tell us about the first time you ever moved out of your family home and rented/bought your first property?
I bought my first flat in 2011 in Craigie. I previously bought with someone else but now looking to buy somewhere for the second time as my mortgage has been approved!!! YAAAAAAAY!
Which parts of Perthshire have you lived in and are there any that you liked the most?
I lived in Scone since 2004, just something about Scone I love. I stayed in Craigie for 2 years in 2011. I’m looking to buy in the next few months either in Scone or Craigie.
What’s your favourite room in your home and why?
I think when I buy this year it will be living room, just that cosy relaxed comfort.
In your opinion, what is it that makes a house a home?
Family, kids etc and Dogs!! LOTS OF DOGS!!
Why do you think Perthshire is such a popular location for buyers from all over parts of Scotland and the UK?
Very central, not too far from the bigger cities and is such a pretty little city.
If you could have your dream home, anywhere in the world, where would it be and tell us a bit about what it might have in it and look like?
I’d LOVE to build my own home one day, in Perth, but be able to steal some of the Balearic sun. It would need to have a double staircase in the centre of the hall as soon as you came in the front door! Which lead you off to the rooms upstairs. A massive garden, enough space to allow for Dog Grooming Academy Premises. A massive kitchen living area, with glass panels window and door at the back of property which lead and look onto the garden - not much then!! 🙂
