Possible meets... Kyle Mowat of Caledonia Removals
This weeks guest is co-owner of one of the areas most well-liked and well-known local businesses. Not only is his business continuing to move onwards and upwards itself, that’s exactly what his business does for their clients too. Their steady growth and increase in demand for their services can be attributed to many things, but in our opinion, it’s down to the fact that they are just a straight up, honest, hard-working bunch and get the job done incredibly well. Many of our own clients will testify to that. It’s been great to see him and his team blossom in recent years and if we are fortunate enough to experience the kind of growth and recognition they have enjoyed, we’ll be pretty happy with that.
This week, Possible meets….. Kyle Mowat of Caledonia Removals.
Can you tell us a bit about your business?
I am co-owner of Caledonia Removals. We specialise in local and national removals, storage and packing services. We employ a 10 man team, operate with 5 Vans and are in our 8th year of business.
How has the last year, throughout the COVID-19 situation, been for you professionally and personally?
We made the decision to close our doors during the first lockdown for 10 weeks. When the land registration tax incentives were put into place we were inundated with moves all around the country and have seen an upturn in demand. Personally, having 10 weeks away from work allowed me the chance to spend the time with my wife and 3 kids, something which I wouldn’t have had the chance to do otherwise.
Tell us about the first time you ever moved out of your family home and rented/bought your first property?
I first moved out of my parents house when I was 17 and spent a few years sharing different flats across Perth. I can still remember the freedom that I felt and the ability to come and go as I chose to – something that wasn’t easily achieved under my mothers roof!
Which parts of Perthshire have you lived in and are there any that you liked the most?
I lived in Perth itself for a number of years before moving out to Bankfoot 4 years ago. We now have a lovely house in the village and enjoy the simple pleasures this brings. Our kids are all settled in well at the school and have a great group of friends.
What’s your favourite room in your home and why?
It has to be the garage! It is the one space in our house where the children aren’t allowed to venture and I decide what goes where!
In your opinion, what is it that makes a house a home?
A home is so much more than just the walls surrounding you. It’s the area, the community and the feel you get every time you get to your front door. As you can imagine, a house with 3 children in is never quiet or tidy, but it’s full of memories, laughter and charm (plenty of masterpieces by our 2 year old adorning the walls!). It’s a place where we all feel love. What more could we need?
Why do you think Perthshire is such a popular location for buyers from all over parts of Scotland and the UK?
Perthshires location is very unique – we have beautiful scenery, a huge amount of excellent properties and we can access any of our Scottish cities in 2 hours. In the last year in particular, we have seen a surge on people moving from south of the border to Perthshire and in the majority, it is to enjoy the slower pace of life!
If you could have your dream home, anywhere in the world, where would it be and tell us a bit about what it might have in it and look like?
I have always dreamed of owning a manse in the hills of Perthshire – a large house with outbuildings, lots of land and a loch view!
Bringing over 20 years local estate agency experience, Possible are Perthshire's only company who are solely dedicated to selling properties. We cover the entire Perthshire area and over the years have helped hundreds of clients in locations such as Perth, Scone, Bridge of Earn, Auchterarder, Crieff, Blairgowrie, Luncarty, Bankfoot, Pitlochry and everywhere else in between.
