How Possible became..... possible.
When starting a business, one of the most important and challenging things anyone will face is what to call your company before you even get going. Sometimes it’s a name that has been in the mind for a long time, sometimes it’s discovered by complete accident, but it’s always something that has to be very carefully considered before being set in stone.
In this blog, Gary explains exactly how Possible became possible.
Gary: “The name wasn’t always there. It wasn’t something that I’d had in my mind for a long period of time and only really focused on it once I’d decided to take that leap, listen to all the people who had been encouraging me to do it and create a brand of estate agency and company culture of my own. There were a few key elements that I wanted to include when considering what to call the company:
1. I didn’t want the name to carry my own name at all or be purely associated with just one person. The success and performance of the company would always be about the team and each individual member of it, I wanted that to be clear to people on the inside and outside.
2. I didn’t want the name to be tied to one geographical area and include a specific location in it. I believe our model and modern approach will help to service clients across the entire Perthshire area and even wider like we have done already. The goals I have are ambitious ones, so the name had to make any plans for growth simpler and easier. I didn’t want the name to restrict where we can go in the future.
3. I wanted the name to roll off the tongue easily and for it to be something that was a nice word or phrase to say. Nothing complicated or too clever like a play on a word or intentional misspelling to make it look cool or edgy.
4. The most important element of the name was that it also had to tell people what we do and I didn’t want to do that in the traditional sense of using ‘Property’ or ‘Homes’ in the name. I’ve always felt that when I am helping a client I am doing more than just selling a property for them and for me, estate agency isn’t just about working in property or with bricks and mortar. It’s so much more than that, it’s aspirational, exciting and very often life-changing.
“So what exactly is it that we are doing?” I asked myself.
We are helping people’s hopes and dreams to become a reality, understanding their goals, listening to what they want to achieve, making a difference, making things happen and simply doing what we can to make it all……… possible. And that’s how it came about.
I felt it incorporated all of the elements I wanted and after playing it over and over in my head and writing it down and saying it loud repeatedly it stuck. I felt it captured the brand, the vision and values I had in mind for the company.
The actual definition in the dictionary says:
“Something possible is capable of becoming true or actually happening. It is able to be done or achieved.”
Whether that relates to us helping a client, supporting our local schools and communities or helping to build careers, I think 'possible' is relevant to all of them.”
